World Bank to fund Karachi BRT Yellow Line, Pakistan [free access]

The World Bank has signed an agreement with the Government of Pakistan to provide a USD382 million loan for the development of the Karachi bus rapid transit (BRT) Yellow Line project. The loan has been extended under the Karachi Mobility Project. The loan has a maturity of 25.5 years and a grace period of 6.5 years.


Karachi BRT Yellow Line will span 21 km and cover 24 stations. The project will be developed at an estimated investment of USD438 million. It is also being financed by the provincial government of Sindh. Works are expected to be completed by 2022.
