Brazil government to fund CPTM Line 9 extension [free access]

Brazil’s Ministry of Regional Development/ Ministério do Desenvolvimento Regional has announced plans to provide BRL151.7 million to fund the development of an extension of Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) Line 9. The extension will span 4.5 km and cover two stations. Passenger services on the extension are expected to commence in 2021. With the opening of this extension, the average daily ridership on Line 9 is expected to increase by 110,000 passengers.
