Hangzhou Metrorail Project, China [free access]

Key players: Hangzhou Metro Group Company Limited is the developer. It operates three lines (Lines 2, 5, and 16). Hangzhou Hanggang Metro Company Limited operates two lines (Lines 1 and 5).



Project description: Expansion of the metro network in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province.


Background: The Hangzhou Metro network comprises five lines which collectively span 206 km and cover 120 stations.



Fare media: Passengers can pay fare using single-use ticket, stored-value card, and the National Transportation Card.


Capital plans: According to the city’s urban master plan and comprehensive transportation plan, the network will comprise 10 lines which will collectively span 423.5 km and cover 228 stations.



Open tenders: Hangzhou Metro Group Company Limited has invited bids for three projects:



Funding: Hangzhou Metro Urban Rail Transit Phase III involves an investment of around CNY200 billion. It will also be financed by the Hangzhou Municipal Government and through bank loans.
