November 5, 2020

The City of Edmonton has selected Marigold Infrastructure Partners (MIP) as a preferred proponent for a public–private partnership (PPP) contract to design, build, and partially finance the Valley Line West light rail transit (LRT) extension. The contract is expected to be signed by the end of the year, and construction is expected to begin in 2021. The extension will take six years to be completed.

Marigold Infrastructure Partners was one of three consortia that were shortlisted for the contract in March 2020. It includes Colas, Parsons, Standard General, Francl Architecture, Fast & Epp, and Stantec.

The Valley Line West LRT will span 14 km, serve 16 stations, and connect Downtown and Lewis Farms. The line is expected to cost CAD2.6 billion. Under the Canada Infrastructure Plan, the Government of Canada has announced plans to provide CAD948 million and the Government of Alberta has announced plans to provide CAD1.04 billion for the extension.
