O&M contract awarded for Sillim Line, South Korea [free access]

A consortium of Hyundai Rotem and Gwangju Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation (GMRT) has secured a KRW329.5 billion contract from Nam Seoul Light Rail Transit Company (NSLRT) to provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the Sillim Line metro project in Seoul. The duration of the contract is 30 years. Hyundai Rotem will be responsible for the O&M services and GMRT will be responsible for providing control and technical support services.

 

Sillim Line will span 7.8 km and cover 11 stations. The development of the line is jointly funded by NSLRT, the city government of Seoul, and the Government of South Korea. The total cost of the project is KRW560 billion. Construction works commenced in 2017. Operations are expected to commence in the first half of 2022.
