December 30, 2020

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has released a Request for Qualifications (RfQ) to shortlist potential contractors for the design–build tunnel and trackwork contract for the BART Silicon Valley Phase II Extension Project (Phase II Project). The successful contractor for the contract package will ultimately design and construct approximately five miles of tunnel, mined adits, ventilation and emergency egress facilities, and three underground station substructures.

Phase II of the BART Silicon Valley Extension project will extend the line south into the cities of San Jose and Santa Clara. It will span 9.6 km (6 miles), cover four stations, and cost USD4.7 billion. Major construction works are expected to start in 2022.
