January 8, 2021

Bluebus, part of the Bolloré Group, has secured two contracts to supply a total of 109 electric buses to RATP for operations in Paris, France. The order is a part of a contract awarded in 2019 to three manufacturers (Heuliez Bus, Bluebus, and Alstom) to supply standard electric buses of length 12 metres. Under this procurement, RATP can order up to 800 buses for EUR400 million, of which 200 buses will be on firm order. The procurement is fully financed by Île-de-France Mobilités.

Under the first order in 2019, Bluebus secured a contract for 50 electric buses, which are scheduled to be delivered in the first quarter of 2021. Each 12-metre-long bus is equipped with six battery packs, which provide a range of up to 320 km.

In addition, RATP is currently preparing a tender worth EUR1.4 billion for 2,100 buses. The authority plans to procure around 1,400 biogas and 700 electric buses.

The procurement is a part of RATP’s 2025 Bus Plan, under which the authority plans to deploy a 100 per cent eco-friendly fleet by 2025 in Île-de France to reduce the carbon footprint by 50 per cent. The authority plans to deploy battery-electric buses, natural gas/ biogas buses, and hybrid buses.

RATP currently operates 4,700 buses, which comprise 3,300 diesel buses, 1,000 hybrid buses, 250 biogas buses, and 150 electric buses. By 2025, RATP plans to operate 2,200 biogas buses, 1,500 electric buses, and 1,000 hybrid buses.
