Mexico City metro system to be modernised; Metrobus network expanded, Mexico [free access]

The government of Mexico City has announced plans to invest MXN4.50 billion to modernise the metro network by 2023. In the current year, MXN700 million is planned to be invested, which will be used to modernise the electric power supply and the transmission and distribution system of the network. In addition, funds will be invested to modernise 17 substations of Line 1, to install a cable of medium voltage of 15 KV for Lines 1, 2, and 3 of the network, and to develop a new Central Control Post for Lines 1 to 6.

 

In addition, passenger services have commenced on an extension of Line 3 of Metrobus, the bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Mexico City. This extension spans 3.6 km and covers five stations. It has been developed at an investment of MXN336.40 million. With the opening of this extension, Line 3 now spans 20.6 km and covers 40 stations.
