World Bank to fund Mitre Line modernisation, Argentina [free access]

The World Bank, through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), has approved plans to provide USD347 million to the Government of Argentina for the modernisation of Mitre Line, a commuter rail line in Buenos Aires. The funds will be used for the renovation and expansion of a station, development of two new stations, improvement of electrical infrastructure, as well as undertaking enhancement works at over 20 stations and rail tracks.

 

The works will be executed by Argentina’s Ministry of Transportation/ Ministerio de Transporte. The works are expected to improve the reliability and safety of the line as well as increase accessibility. The project involves an investment of USD382.77 million, of which the Government of Argentina will provide USD35.77 million.
