July 15, 2021

The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi’s (GNCTD’s) Department of Transport has entered into a partnership with Google to provide real-time updates for 3,000 buses operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). More buses will be added to the project. In FY2020–21, DTC operated 3,762 buses and Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System (DIMTS) operated 2,910 buses.

In addition, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced plans to deploy 100 electric buses by end-2021. Of these, 25 buses are planned to be deployed by August 2021. On these buses, passengers will be able to pay fare using the smartcards issued by DMRC. Currently, DMRC operates a fleet of 174 buses fuelled by compressed natural gas (CNG).
