Alstom to supply up to 120 LRVs in Paris, France [free access]

October 4, 2021

Alstom has secured a EUR310 million contract from Régie autonome des transports parisiens (RATP) and Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) to supply up to 120 new light rail vehicles (LRVs) for Line T1.

The contract includes an initial order for 37 LRVs and an additional option for up to 83 LRVs. The 37 LRVs supplied under the initial order will replace the existing vehicles. The other additional 83 LRVs will be used to increase the frequency and planned service extensions at both ends of Line T1. The new trams will feature 15 per cent more capacity, low-floor entrances, USB mobile phone charging sockets, LED lighting, and passenger counters.

The three-section trams on Line T1 date back to the launch of the line in 1992, or were transferred later from Line T2.
