MTT invites pre-qualification bids for Phase I of Bahrain Metro [free access]

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication (MTT) has invited pre-qualification bids for the first phase of the Bahrain Metro. The last date for the submission of pre-qualification bids is March 2, 2022.


Phase I will have two lines which will span 29 km and cover 20 stations and two interchanges. The lines will connect Muharraq, Manama, Diplomatic Area, Juffair, Seef District, Tubli, Adhari, and Isa Town. 


The project is planned to be executed in four phases.


Phase I of the project will be implemented on a design, build, finance, operate, maintain, transfer (DBFOMT) basis with a contract period of 35 years.


KPMG has been selected as the lead transaction advisor, while Egis is the technical advisor and DLA Piper is the legal advisor for the procurement of the project on a PPP basis.
