PKP Polskie invites bids to conduct planning study for Warsaw Railway Junction, Poland [free access]

January 7, 2022

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (PKP PLK) has invited bids to conduct an elaborate planning study for the Warsaw Railway Junction as part of the Rail Master Plan of Warsaw Agglomeration. The contract period will be 3.5 years. The selected contractor will be required to submit the study in 2025.

The study will evaluate potential corridors to extend the rail infrastructure in Warsaw, which will include a cross-city line. The scope of the contract will include evaluating potential stops and extensions; determining alternate routes for a new diameter line and other lines; conducting preliminary technical analyses; undertaking model preparation; making forecasts; estimating traffic demand; and preparing conceptual systems. The results will be used for the pre-design and design documentation for individual investment tasks. The study will be the first phase of strategic planning before the preparation of the final feasibility study.

The Rail Master Plan of Warsaw is a strategy developed to analyse the current transport system and to prepare guidelines for future plans to create an integrated, fast, and efficient rail system in Warsaw.
