Contactless Payments &MaaS in APAC

Global Mass Transit is organising a half-day virtual event on Contactless Fare Payments & MaaS in APAC on June 17, 2020 from 1400-1700 SGT.As the pandemic continues to unfold, we are experiencing changes that require us to discover new ways to achieve our goals.

About the event

The event will focus on contactless payments for transit using ticketing options such as bank cards (EMV), mobile payments, wallets and smartcards that are being explored across the Asia Pacific region to encourage the use of public transport following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Such contactless payment methods eliminate cash handling and direct contact between passengers and transit agency employees. Cloud based software-as-a-service (SaaS) business models, ticketing apps and real-time passenger communication can enhance customer service and operations efficiency as public transport systems prepare for recovery from the pandemic. Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) allows integration of public and private mobility options for customer-centric mobility solution and convenient payment options which are expected to increase ridership.

Many cities and countries in Asia Pacific are exploring Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) and deploying contactless payments as a way to achieve MaaS.

This event will provide a platform to discuss the role of account-based ticketing (ABT) and open loop payments in the growth of MaaS, the establishment of a single payment channel and integration of transit ticketing apps into third-party apps.

The agenda for the half-day event will include:
- Presentation on 'Key Trends and Outlook for Contactless Payments & MaaS in APAC’
- Keynote presentation by a leading transit agency
- Sponsor presentations (1-2)
- Session on ‘Perspectives from Asia Pacific’ (2-3 presentations from agencies/governments in Asia Pacific)

The event will include presentations, discussions and Q&A with the attendees. We hope that such a focused session will give an opportunity to hear from and interact with the leaders of transit agencies and experts in contactless payments and MaaS in times when travel has become restricted and it is uncertain when it may open up.
